Colin Scott-Malden

Colin trained as a pilot with BOAC, later to become British Airways. He flew VC-10’s and Boeing 747’s until his retirement from BA in 2004, when he was a Training Captain and Check Captain. He then flew for the Spanish airline Iberia, based in Madrid until the end of 2005.

From 1977-1981 he was an editor for The Log, which is the pilots’ union (BALPA) in-house magazine. He then ran his own computer business from 1983-87, to help pay the school fees. This was in the early days of the home computer and of Pac-Man and the Sinclair Spectrum. He also designed and built a modem from an article in an electronics magazine. This was before even Al Gore had heard of the Internet and there were virtually no online services.

After retiring from flying he began a study course with the Buildings Research establishment (BRE) and University of the West of England (UWE) to become a Home Inspector and Domestic Energy Assessor. He has completed the DEA qualification and hopes to obtain the full HI qualification in the near future. He is accredited through both BRE and SAVA/NHER.

Colin is 60 and married, with two children and three grandchildren. He lives in Hampshire and his hobbies are tennis, golf, antiques and diy.
